Project Description

 

The lighthouse apartments consist of 29 one, two and three bedroom apartment with magnificent views of the CBD and harbour. Located directly adjacent to spaghetti junction, on the old Dicksmith K Road site, this premier located structure had tight access issues.

The structure consists of 7 suspended comflor concrete floors on a composite steel and concrete gravity structure. The earthquake resisting system consists of three main ductile concrete shear walls. The basement is formed with a perimeter piled retaining wall that is supporting the neighbouring structures. Due to the age and brittle brick construction of the adjacent buildings, which are sensitive to any movement of the retaining walls, extensive co-ordination with the geotechnical engineering team was required to create a efficient solution.

Project Goals

The design team, Leuschke Group Architects, 22degrees, Geoconsult and DHC delivered this project within a tight time frame in the final quarter of 2016.

Project Outcomes

With construction expected mid 2017, DHC are underway assisting the team with the tender and consenting process.
