  • Sector Commercial
  • Location Christchurch
  • Value $9 million

Project Description

The use of staged consents in this project allowed demolition and re-strengthening work to be undertaken while the architectural design phase was still ongoing. This meant a valuable saving of time with a shortened programme and early handover to the end tenants, who in turn were in the building earlier than expected and operating their business effectively.

Project Goals

One of a number of design-build developments in the Victoria Street precinct of Christchurch. These projects were required to meet new seismic design requirements with a cost-effective solution. Aesthetics were also critical, as the buildings form part of the CBD rebuild.

Project Outcomes

Project completed in record time for Countrywide Group as the three sister companies further strengthened their working relationship. Construction from October 2013 – July 2014.

Project Features

  • 2900m² of high grade office space above 730m² of ground floor hospitality and retail space.
  • Re-strengthening work was done after stripping back the original building to leave only the structure itself.
  • Additional structural steel and BRB braces added.
  • Refurbished space enclosed in curtain wall, aluminium composite panels and block work
